A Word From Our Chairman
It's clear to me that we will never have a truly healthy state without healthy families. As a pediatrician, I believe comprehensive, medically-sound family planning is the foundation on which healthy families must be built.Reproductive health is a critical issue, with consequences for every one of us. Our state's policies and programs must address these most recent - and frightening - findings.
Nationally, South Carolina ranks:
- 3rd highest for rates of Gonorrhea
- 10th highest for Chlamydia and Syphilis
- 4th highest in infant mortality rate
- 4th in new pediatric AIDS cases annually
- 8th highest for annual rate of AIDS cases for men and 9th highest for women
- 13th highest in child death rate
- 13th highest in teen birth rate
We must work together with our political leaders and policy makers to make sure that every person - rich or poor - has both the right and the access to comprehensive family planning.
South Carolina Reproductive Health PAC is a non-partisan political action committee formed by concerned citizens to promote healthy families. We provide campaign funding and other election year assistance to candidates for state and local office who support comprehensive, medically-sound family planning policies.
